Hi there, wonderful to meet you!
I’m Jodie and the “non-brains” behind “A Cook’s Paradigm”. I can’t say I’m the “brains”, that falls to my wonderful husband, who came up with both the name and the logo.
I live in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne, with my husband, a couple of gorgeous kids and the handsomest, happiest West Highland White Terrier ever, called Brooklyn.
I’ve created this blog to reflect on my love of cooking and craft, and in due course, to share with others, the joy that comes from creating!
There will be successes, there will be failures (only occasionally, I hope!), but isn’t that all part of the journey!
Now, for the slightly curious, a bit about me…
I was born in Australia, the Northern Territory to be exact, and then, spent the next seventeen years, living in all sorts of places, big, small and very small, across Australia’s Eastern seaboard.
Whilst I love my “day job”, cooking and crafting has always been, as I call it, “a stress relief” for me and a wonderful way to relax, particularly after a week of work.
My mum, was, and continues to be my inspiration! Growing up, mum was always cooking, sewing and knitting, and, from a very early age, encouraged me to do the same.
Sadly, I never managed to master the art of knitting, I tried crocheting recently, but have decided to stick with cooking and other creative pursuits. Knitting and crocheting require a degree of hand and eye co-ordination, I simply can’t manage!
My husband has an Anglo-Indian background which also influences the food I cook.
Some of the recipes I share, are “family traditions” taken from both myself and my husband’s families. Others I have developed myself, and then there are those I have found, which have gained a place in my family’s heart.
As for the craft, I would love to share with you my projects, which are, more often than not, made for others.
You will get to meet one of my most popular creations, a sausage dog, known by many names, to many different people, and quite well travelled.
I have my gorgeous younger sister, Kelly, and her dog, Nudel, to thank for the inspiration. One night the kids went to bed, with the request that I create a stuffed toy for them while they were asleep. And the rest as they say is history!
I have recently discovered a love of needle felting, my fingers would disagree though! Sadly, they now have more holes than a sieve!
For me, much of the joy and the pleasure in creating, is in the knowing that others will also get to share in the experience.
As the old saying goes, “a pleasure shared, is a pleasure doubled”.
love,
Jodie XX
